A SKY OF A THOUSAND COLOURS was recognized as the Choice Young Adult (2025) read in the inaugural Akdang Pinoy Choice Awards.
Not enough words can express how grateful I am for this honor. It comes during a time when I'm struggling with fears over the possibility of 'aging-out' of YA. I was honestly beginning to think that my love for YA literature may not be enough sometimes, and that I may not be able to give justice to the stories and voices intended and reflective of the youth.
But days like today are truly a blessing because I'm gifted with the reminder that I have all of you in my corner. More than the award itself, it's the love and support I received from you, dear readers, family, and friends, that sustain and inspire me to keep going, in spite of whatever fears I may have.
Thank you, Akdang Pinoy and The Filipino Shelf, for this wonderful initiative that spotlights Filipino books and authors. Thank you to everyone who nominated, voted, and supported this campaign. Thank you to my publisher, Penguin Random House Southeast-Asia, for helping me bring Gwen, Jet, and Jasper's story to the world. Thank you to my RomanceClass family for always having my back. And thank you to all my friends and my family, especially Mom, Dad, and Chino, for the endless love and support.
A special congratulations to my fellow Filipino authors, winners and nominees alike. Truly, there is no shortage of talent, wonder, and treasure in the world of Filipino lit. Mabuhay ang Panitikang Pinoy!
So yes, I'll continue to write YA for as long as I can, for as long as the words come, for as long as the stories live. What a way to end this year, full of gratitude for what has been and full of hope for what is to come.
Happy holidays, everyone. See you in 2026!

So last Friday (Black Friday, to be exact), I was finally able to reveal the title and cover of my upcoming young adult novel! A SKY OF A THOUSAND COLOURS will arrive April 2025 from Penguin Random House Southeast Asia!
The lovely cover art was made by Primguin / Primo, also known as the best brother ever. Check out his profile here: Primguin on IG.
I have a lot to say regarding this book, but I'll save it all for when it finally comes out next year. After so many years in the making, I am so excited for all of you to meet Gwen, Jasper, Jet, and the rest of the Gawad Likha!
In the meanwhile, check out the full blurb here!
April may seem so far away, but time flies by so fast.
Can you believe that it's December already?

Back in high school, when I was in the process of applying for college, I had a brief moment of hesitation when it came to the choice of courses. It was because I knew I wanted to be a doctor but at the same time, I knew that I enjoyed writing and wondered if I was good enough to pursue it.
Eventually, thanks to the encouragement of my family, friends, and teachers, I made a goal - why can't I become both?
I picked a science course for my pre-med (if I had known back then that I actually didn't need a science course as a pre-requisite to medicine, I would have probably went for creative writing!) and eventually made my way to medical school.
While being a creative living in an often cerebrally demanding field wasn't always easy, I found solace in the fact that medicine has always been both an art and a science. What makes a good doctor isn't just her brain, but perhaps more importantly, her heart.
That said, I'm also happy to know that I'm not alone in the doctor-writer life! If you're curious about this, there'll be a great discussion happening at the Philippine Book Festival on Friday, April 26, 5-6 PM, at the World Trade Center. Together with Doc Joti, Doc Will, and Doc Alice, I'll happily share experiences about what it's like living the double life. Hope to see you all there!

Hi! Welcome to my little slice of cyberspace.
It honestly feels like a long time coming. Anyhow, after conquering residency training and the specialty boards (yay!), I finally got the time and the energy to get this website up and running.
And yes, we've got lots of exciting things lined up in both the doctor and the author life. Hopefully, I'll be able to announce more things soon.
For now, I'm enjoying Pokémon Oreo cookies in search for the legendary Mew while attempting to finish this WIP that's been 5 years in the making. Tough luck on both, but we did get Pikachu, the cutie that's been my lucky charm since high school.
Thank you for being here.
Hope you stay happy and healthy.
